What to do if you find a seal?

If you find a baby or injured seal:

  1. Maintain a reasonable distance – as not to scare the seal.
  2. Immediately inform the Caspian Seal Research and Rehabilitation Center (+ 7 775 101 1122) or the Mangistau region Department of Fish Inspection (+ 8 (7292) 57 92 49) and tell them where the animal is.
  3. If you find a seal, which is exhausted, with open wounds, or has limbs that appear to be in an unnatural position, try to restrict its access to open water but do it from a reasonable distance. Take measures to protect it from stray dogs and birds whilst waiting for a member of the CSRRC team or Fish Inspection Office to arrive.
  4. Do not try to feed the seal or provide veterinary care by yourself.

If you find a seal carcass, please inform the CSRRC on +7 775 101 1122.
