Caspian Seal: Scientists discussed new opportunities for the preservation of the endemic population of Caspian seals

On April 27, the first meeting of the Scientific Council of the Center for the Study and Rehabilitation of the Caspian Seal was held in Saudi Arabia.

The event under the chairmanship of Aselle Tasmagambetova, Founder of the Center for the Study and Rehabilitation of the Caspian Seal, was attended by leading international experts: Carlos Manuel Duarte, Director of the Red Sea Research Center at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Saudi Arabia), Elena Andrievskaya, Head of the Baltic Seal Friends Fund (Russia), Thomas Nyman, Department of Ecosystems in the Barents Region of the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research, PhD, Adylkhan Tovasarov, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Director of the Center for the Study and Rehabilitation of the Caspian Seal, Sharipa Bisarieva, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the the Center for the Study and Rehabilitation of the Caspian Seal, Altynai Kaidarova, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Chief Scientist in the field of Technology and Innovations at the Center for the Study and Rehabilitation of the Caspian Seal, Serik Timirkhanov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Director of Marine Biology LLP (Kazakhstan).

During the meeting, issues of the current state, scientific tasks and prospects for future cooperation in the preservation of the endemic population of Caspian seals were discussed.

Aselle Tasmagambetova presented a program for the preservation of the endemic population of Caspian seals developed by the Center for the Study and Rehabilitation of the Caspian Seal.

Carlos Manuel Duarte made a presentation on marine life restoration by 2050. Altynai Kaidarova told about the possibility of using wearable sensors to monitor the population of the Caspian seal.
