On June 4, 2021, in St. Petersburg, a meeting was held between the head of the “Caspian seal” project and the founder of the “Caspian Seal Research and Rehabilitation Center” in Aktau, Tasmagambetova Aselle and the head of the “Fund of Friends of the Baltic Seal” in St. Petersburg, Elena Andrievskaya. During the meeting, an acquaintance with the Center and its work took place. Issues related to the treatment and care of seals, as well as mutual cooperation were discussed.
Aselle Tasmagambetova expressed special gratitude to Vyacheslav Alekseev and Elena Andrievskaya for assistance and advice to the Caspian Seal Research and Rehabilitation Center in Aktau.
Recall that in August 2019, the largest Caspian Seal Research and Rehabilitation Center in the Caspian region was opened in Aktau. The “Saby” Foundation and the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research participated in the creation of the Center.
On November 9, 2020, by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Caspian seal was included in the List of rare and endangered species of animals.
The initiators and developers of the biological substantiation for the inclusion of the Caspian seal in the List of rare and endangered species of animals are the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research and the Caspian Seal Research and Rehabilitation Center.
